Is it Time for an Entrepreneurial Vision Quest?

entrepreneurial vision quest

Are you having a hard time remembering what it was like during the first blush of your success in owning your own business? Do you yearn for the excitement of those early years when things ran like a well- oiled machine?  Don’t despair. Help is just a few days away. A few days that you and your soul need in order to reignite the spark that started you on the heady road to success.

You need an Entrepreneurial Vision Quest. The idea of a personal Vision Quest has been around for centuries. It was a standard ritual in Native American cultures. A Vision Quest for your business works in much the same way and combines your desires for personal success to expand your view of your business world. It provides an opportunity to push the refresh button on the way you think about your business.

The first step is to choose a place and adequate time off. Plan on at least three days. The first day is to decompress. Take another two days to think freely, dream big and set new goals.  A quiet, peaceful place is best.  A condo at the beach, a cabin in the mountains – anywhere you feel close to nature. Getting back to nature is important in a vision quest. It helps quiet your mind of the stresses of everyday life. Your Quest doesn’t need to compete with your phone, email, friends and family. It is best if you are alone to think about your business in a no judgement zone. Nothing is right or wrong during your time of soul searching.

In your busy life you have already planted the seeds for the topics you want to work on in your quest. You’ve had numerous grand ideas but haven’t had the time to transform the ideas into action.  Create a loose agenda from your random thoughts. You want itto be broad enough with your plan so as not to stifle out of the box thinking. For example, you know your team has become stagnant. They haven’t had an original idea in months. You are looking for ways to infuse passion into their work again. You need to reconnect with your own passion in order to inspire others.

For your Vision Quest reach deep down into your soul and channel again the part of you that inspired exceptional progress for a successful business. At this stage it is helpful to create a Vision Board of your favorite things about your business. For example, if you are in love with your brand place your logo on the board. Choose three or four things you truly love about your business. Think about the qualities those things possess and apply them to your present situation.  View this as a passion check.

Try not to over think the things you think about in your Vision Quest. It shouldn’t be a stressful time. It should be refreshing and inspiring.  Take the time. You and your future are worth the investment.
