Small Victories: The Key to Building Your Confidence (and Online Business)!

The idea of progress is a powerful one to human beings. However, most people fail to recognize its true potential for today's professionals and entrepreneurs.

The Harvard Business Review writes about what has come to be known as the progress principle and has this to say: the biggest motivator and emotional boost for knowledge workers during a work day is the sense that they are “making progress in meaningful work”.

Identify and Evaluate Opportunities

The online world is rife with opportunities. Given a market that is both fertile and crowded, it becomes especially important that opportunities be identified with skill and evaluated successfully. Primarily eight opportunity types can be found in the online sphere, which are   listed below: discover potential in keywords, build a reliable and attractive brand proposition, identify a customer pain point, deliver along the lines of customer passions, chase your passion, utilize your expertise and experience, be a first mover.

Study the Mindset of Successful Entrepreneurs

There is no task as wasteful as reinventing the wheel. Once you've identified opportunities that you'd like to go after, it is important to fine tune your own mind and thinking so that it is ripe for an entrepreneurial harvest soon! The best way to do this is to understand the minds and motivations of entrepreneurs who are out in the world and doing their thing – and doing it well! To cut a long story short, at this stage, examine the beliefs and assumptions that empower entrepreneurs so as to mold your own.

Ignite Ambition, Resourcefulness and Determination

It is common knowledge that not all goals fire us up and motivate us in the same way. The key here is twofold: one is to identify business goals that motivate you in themselves. On the other hand, it is equally – or perhaps even more – important to identify underlying goals that are in line with your value system. For example, if you believe that each individual should give back to society, incorporate this into your business model to keep you motivated. The same holds true for any other value you may hold dear.

Implement an Online Business Strategy

Your online business strategy needs to be focused / targeted, dynamic and personalized. The first step towards this is to identify actions or steps to be taken so that you can build your online presence in an organic yet systematic manner. In fact, the implementation of an online strategy itself can be considered more than just a small victory, enough to boost your confidence for weeks on end! However, this isn't a one-step process and involves decisions on several fronts. A few actionable steps in implementing your digital strategy are: offer personalization, implement integration across channels, micro-target a customer segment and deliver content and experiences tailor-made for their needs.

These small steps can lead to cumulative success in your online endeavors. Now that you've tasted victory, go ahead, don't hesitate to build on them!
