Developing Your Brand, Marketing Message, and Plan

Developing your Plan, Marketing Message

The first step in developing your brand is, obviously, to understand what a brand is. After you have a clear idea of what you want your brand to be, the next step would be to develop a message that is relevant to your brand. You have to make your brand and your message go together so that they are synonymous in the minds of customers. After this comes the time to develop a marketing plan that will make your brand a household name and generate sales enough to not only break-even but make a rocking profit!

What is a brand?

A brand is the one thing that differentiates your product or service from the others in the market. It is the symbol or representation of your business. This makes it easier to market your product. It is the voice and face of your company.

How do you develop your brand?

To develop your brand, you need to first define it. To define it, you need to identify what it stands for, what it means to you, and what it means to the customers. For this, you would have to understand the needs of your customers and why they would need to buy your product or service. Thinking of your brand as a person and an individual in its own right can help you build up a personality for your brand that sets it apart from the rest. Connect your brand with the core mission, values, and beliefs of your team and company. They should connect and resonate with each other. Be consistent in the tone of your brand. By standing for something that you believe in, you stand a much greater chance of resonating with your customers. They need to feel your heart to feel the brand. Think about what your customers already think about your company. Link the features and benefits of your products or services to the brand. Your brand should link the qualities of your company and its products and services in the minds of the customers.

How do you develop a brand message and more importantly, make it stick?

Your brand message is what your company stands for. It is something that should resonate with you and resonate with the customers. There should be no disconnect between you and the brand message as this is something that customers can feel and could make them distrust the brand and its message.

Find out what your customers want by analyzing customer data through surveys and studies. Then identify what is important to you and your company. Then look to your competitors and see how they are positioning themselves so that you can create a unique message for yourself. Create a brand message that ties in all these factors.
